Computex 08: Two feature-packed boards

Not only did DFI show off a mATX P45 motherboard with CrossFireX support, but the company also had a pair of AMD-based mATX boards on display, both supporting CrossFireX.

First up is the Blood Iron 780G-M2R, which as the name suggests is based on the AMD 780G chipset. DFI has tweaked this board to support CrossFireX and it has a 4+1 power regulation, which means that it'll work with 140W processors.

It also has a wide range of connectivity options, including optical and coaxial S/PIDF out and DVI. The board on the picture is pretty much the final board design.

Next up, we have the Lanparty JR 790GX-M2RS and as you can see, these two boards look more or less identical. The reason for this was because the Lanparty version wasn't finalized on time for Computex, so the board on display was a very early sample.

The final model will get the Lanparty makeover and have a black PCB and solid capacitors, as well as some fancy colored expansion and memory slots.

The difference between the two is, of course, the chipset, as this model uses the 790GX chipset and the SB750 Southbridge, which should allow for better overclocking of AMD's Phenom processors.

Apart from that, the two boards will be quite similar, but we have to wait for the final version of this motherboard to make an appearance before we draw any conclusions. However, it does look like DFI has managed to find an interesting niche in the market for itself with these high-end mATX motherboards.
