So far we've only seen companies announcing Geforce 9300-based motherboards, but it seems like there are some that are busy getting their Geforce 9400 board ready. Both DFI and Gigabyte's Geforce 9400 boards were spotted at an Nvidia event in Japan and it looks like those wanting a more powerful Nvidia IGP won't have to wait too long.

Both boards are mATX, although DFI seems to have taken things to the next level with the Lanparty JR GF9400-T2RS, which has a pair of x16 PCIe slots. We doubt that you can actually run SLI on this motherboard, as there's no official chipset support from Nvidia. Otherwise, this looks like a rather good mATX board, although it seems like DFI has decided to only fit a DVI connector, so forget about this board for HTPC usage.

The Gigabyte GA-E7AUM-DS2H was something of a surprise, as Gigabyte told us a while back that they weren't going to do any more Nvidia-based motherboards. It seems like Nvidia has been busy courting Gigabyte and the company decided to do another Nvidia-based board. In this case it looks like quite a good HTPC choice, as from what we can tell the board has both HDMI and optical S/PDIF and a wide range of other features such as eSATA, DVI, Gigabit Ethernet and FireWire.

The Japanese site in question that covered the event also has pictures of an XFX Geforce 9300 board called the MI-9300-7AS9, which looks quite interesting, albeit a bit on the large side for a mATX board. There's also a picture of a Zotac Geforce 9300 board, but it's hard to see a lot of details of this board; but the active chipset cooling doesn't look great.
