Intel's new P45 chipset supports desktop turbo cache. It goes by the name Robson and it's basically flash memory that's inserted in notebook mini PC slots.

This memory will now be featured in desktops and Intel internally claims that it should increase the performance of your post-hibernated machine.

Desktop turbo memory will fit in a PCIe 1X slot and you should see 1GB cards to begin with and gradually climbing all the way to 4GB. With incredibly cheap DDR2 systems, we don’t see a bright future for this marchitecture, but there still might be some future for desktop turbo cache in DDR3 systems.

These modules are expected to launch in late 2008.
