Not a far stretch of your imagination

We've found out that Intel has already finialized the name for its upcoming IOH (or I/O Hub) which so far has gone under the codename of Tylersburg for the desktop Bloomsfield derived Nehalem-based processor.

Considering that this is going to be Intel's new high-end chipset and its first chipset based on the new QPI, or Quick Path Interconnect, one would've thought that Intel would hire some clever people to come up with a new naming convention for this chipset to go with the rest of its new and more consumer-friendly brand names, especially as Intel is moving away from the Core 2 platform.

Alas, that is not the case, and if you haven't guessed it by now, the name Intel has decided to go with for the Tylersburg IOH is simply going to be X58. Sorry if we spoiled it for you, but it doesn't seem that Intel wanted to spend any cash on coming up with a new funky name for this product.

We still don't know what the retail name for the processors will be, but you can expect us to tell you as soon as we know.
