MSI has gone all out when it comes to AMD's 780-series chipsets and announced no less than seven different SKUs based on the 780G and 780V chipsets. It gets a little bit confusing, as all the boards are quite similar, with only some minor differences between them.

The models are the K9A2GM-FIH, K9A2VM-FIH, K9A2GM-FD, K9A2VM-FD, K9A2GM-F V2, K9A2GM-F V2 and K9A2GM-FIH-S. The -S model features solid capacitors, but is otherwise the same as the K9A2GM-FIH. The GM models features the 780G chipset with the VM models using the 780V chipset.

The difference is that the 780G chipset features Radeon HD 3200 graphics and the 780V series using Radeon HD 3100 graphics. In the various model names, the letters after the dash stand for the following, F for Gigabit Ethernet, I for FireWire, H for HDMI and D for DVI.

Common among all the models is one x16 PCIe slot, one x1 PCIe slot, two PCI slots, 7.1-channel sound, four SATA ports and an IDE connector. All models also support Hybrid CrossFireX.

As already mentioned in an article here, not all boards are fitted for 125W TDP CPUs.
