"Light" version of their famous OC 680i

EVGA released its crippled 680i LT motherboard. We talked a lot about these boards and even mentioned that EVGA is prepearing one of these here.

It is based on NVIDIA nForce 680i LT SLI Chipset and supports Intel Core 2 Extreme, Intel Core 2 Quad, Intel Core 2 Duo, Pentium EE, and Pentium processors with 1066/1333 Mhz Front Side Bus.

New board has many "cut-downs", but it also cost less. The key difference between the new chipset and the older, more expensive 680i is that, the LT version supports up to 800MHz, while you have 1200MHz memory on 680i.

The LT version also misses the third PCI-Express graphics expansion slot meant for the physics card, which leaves you with two PCIe x16, two PCIe x1, and two PCI slots. Other differences are one less LAN port, so you end up with only one, two less external USB's, which still leaves you with eight and thats about it.

Unlike 680i the 680i LT is actively cooled over north and southbridge, but its not a big thing unless your a "less noise" enthusiast.

It costs about $200 which is a good deal. Nvidia could earn a lot out of this chipset, or better to say just by remaking the 680i. You can find more information on EVGA here.
