Meizu might launch completely bezel less phone

by on06 December 2016

Xmas miracle

Since the day Xiaomi launched the Mi Mix phone with 91.3 percent screen-to-body ratio, people have wanted to get their hands on it. Now, it looks like Meizu might launch a phone with a front almost completely made of display or close to 100 percent screen-to-body ratio.

Meizu, a company that almost exclusively uses MediaTek SoCs, is a good competitor for Xiaomi, at least when it comes to product quality and design. Therefore, we believe that this rumor might have wings. Yes, we do know that there is one Exynos powered phone from Meizu but the rest of the phones use MediaTek's SoCs. Both Xiaomi and Meizu showed the power to do real innovation in the mobile phone market with unique solutions.

If the rumors are true, the Meizu bezel-less phone is all display and there aren't any buttons or even a camera while the fingerprint sensor and home button may be hidden under the screen. It is very unlikely that the company will launch a phone without a selfie camera, but maybe it has found a way to hide the camera under the screen. Still, we find this very unlikely as it would be hard to mask the optical elements of the camera. We will have to wait and see.

The Meizu phone wound not even have a chin, something that Xiaomi Mi Mix has and if this ends up being the case, Meizu will still end up being competitive as long as the price and performance are satisfactory. All we’ve seen are the renders of the phone and not actual pictures, but we hope to learn a bit more about this mysterious phone soon.

It looks like that 2017 will be a year with a lot of innovations in the phone market, and bezel-less phones are just one of them.
