OnePlus 2 dumps Qualcomm Quick Charge

by on29 July 2015

It just gets worse

We have been claiming that OnePlus 2 is more of a marketing triumph than anything game changing, but it turns out the new one does not feature Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 battery charging technology.

This is a standard in today's newer smartphones so dropping it means that you are buying a lemon. Users will have to wait for a significant amount of time until the smartphone's battery gets full charge.

OnePlus 2's battery needs more than three hours to gain a full charge which is just soooo three years ago.

To be fair it does have a OnePlus 2 features a 3,300 mAh battery, which is a "significant improvement" when compared to its predecessor's 3,100 mAh battery -- hooray.

The phone also incorporates an advanced Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, which is why not buying the Quick Charge technology is so silly. This could charge a smartphone's battery to 60 per cent in just 30 minutes and so its lack rules the toy out of the business market.

The reason appears to be that Qualcomm's Quick Charge technology demands the use of a power controller that is compatible with the USB standards within the smartphone.
