Apple Watch coming next spring

by on03 November 2014

Retail SVP confirms

Apple retail senior vice president Angela Ahrendts has confirmed that the company’s first smartwatch is coming in spring 2015.

The info comes in the form of a transcript of an internal video address. In the video Ahrendts confirms the “spring 2015” timeframe.

“We’re going into the holidays, we’ll go into Chinese New Year, and then we’ve got a new watch launch coming in the spring,” said Ahrendts.

When it announced the Apple Watch back in September, the company said it would go on sale in early 2015. Spring is somewhat more precise, as is the Chinese New Year reference (February 19th).

In other words, the Apple Watch will go on sale sometime after the Lunar New Year and Q1 is probably off the table, as spring starts in late March. There is a slight chance the company will manage to ship the watch in the last week of March, thus hitting both Q1 and ‘spring’ timeframes.
