Mobile Workers don’t need 4G

Samsung spoke and so it was thus

Companies pressured by their mobile workers for a 4G upgrade should put their fingers in their ears and go La La Lah, claims Samsung. A new survey carried out by Samsung Mobile has revealed that only nine per cent of mobile workers said that they make use of 4G on the go. The majority of workers will cheerfully use older technology without thinking much about it.

This is counter to what the advocates of "future" networks are telling corporates. At Mobile World Congress in February, sales teams talked incessantly about how 4G would create "a world without boundaries", while different units of the same organisations preached about the importance of 5G. It seems that these sales teams should probably be focusing on selling the concept to customers first.

According to Samsung's survey, smartphones are also the most popular type of device for mobile working, with 71 per cent using the handsets for work purposes. In contrast, laptops and tablets are used about half the time.

Samsung is set to launch a new range of NFC-enabled Printer Xpress M2835DW printers and is trying to convince the world+dog that they would be better off investing in these. They enable mobile workers will be able to tap and print, as well as scan and fax documents while working remotely, which Samsung claims is a little more useful for mobile workers.
