The slightly convex home button will contain the sensor, but because of the need to make it scratch resistant it will use a sapphire glass to protect the sensor. The technology developed by AuthenTec which is a company that Apple purchased in 2012 is a natural fit to be increase the security of the iPhone. With only having the home button for users to access with a finger print, user will not be confused of where they need to put their finger. This will make the technology more accessible and less confusing for the technology novice.

Multiple sources are saying that Apple is planning an event to launch the next generation iPhone on September 10th to the media. With the addition of this type of fingerprint sensor technology, it could again give Apple a serious leg up on its competitors.
