HTC schedules press event for February 19th

by on30 January 2013

New phones on the way

HTC has learned an important lesson. Never launch a bunch of phones on the second day of the Mobile World Congress, as you will fail to get a lot of attention.

With that in mind HTC has notified select members of the mobile press that it plans to hold a press event on February 19th, just six days before the MWC 2013 kick off.  HTC will have two events, one in London and the second one in New York, as it doesn’t want to fly people from one continent to another unless it’s absolutely necessary.

Many believe that HTC plans to talk about the M7, its latest flagship phone that is supposed to fight the Galaxy S4 and a few other phones that will debut over the next few months, but it is still unclear what exactly HTC plans to talk about.

2013 looks to be a year of marked by 1080p phones close and the HTC Butterfly was the first to start this trend late last year. We expect all flagship phones launched in 2013 to feature full HD screens between 4.7 and 5 inches, backed by powerful processors, of course.

It remains to be seen if HTC’s M7 comes with a Qualcomm or Nvidia chips inside, but we can confirm that Nvidia has won at least one HTC design win for the Tegra 4. It is not clear when this phone will appear.

One thing is certain. HTC has an big event planned and it will talk about phones, but who knows, maybe the company is also willing to give tablets another go.
