Rumours of an HTC 1080p have been floating around for weeks and now there’s a new twist to the old story.

GSMArena.com is reporting that HTC’s new 5-incher will end up with Nexus branding on top. There has already been talk of a “Nexus 5” device, but bear in mind that these reports are practically speculation and nothing more. Hopefully Apple didn’t patent the number 5 in the meantime.

In any case, if the rumours are to be believed, the Nexus 5 would end up with a 5-inch 1080p screen, 12-megapixel camera, 2500mAh battery and Android 4.1.2 to run the show. Android 4.1.2 is said to be merely a bunch of bug fixes for Jelly Bean, so don’t expect any big news on the OS front.

So far Google has managed to keep its Nexus plans under wraps and although it looks multiple devices are on the way it is still too early to say for sure.
