Apple to kill off iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4S 8GB coming

by on07 September 2012

Retina all the way

Apple is planning to drop the good old iPhone 3GS after three years of service. The 3GS will be replaced by the iPhone 4 8GB as the cheapest iPhone on offer.

The reshuffle continues, as the iPhone 4GB will be replaced by a new version of the 4S with, you guessed it, 8GB of storage.

Basically the iPhone 4 8GB will target the prepaid market and the $0 contract market, while the 4S 8GB will go for $99.

So, after five years Apple is finally ditching old 480x320 screens and the entire iPhone lineup will feature Retina displays, in two different form factors.
