Quad-core Krait on board

Rumours of an LG superphone based on Qualcomm’s new quad-core chip have been brewing for weeks and now the Optimus G has finally gone official.

It is powered by a Snapdragon S4 APQ8064 processor with Adreno 320 graphics and it features 2GB of RAM, so will probably be the fastest Android phone around when it launches. LG slapped a 1280x768 IPS+ display on top of the beast, with a tiny 3mm bezel. Also, the screen features in-cell touch technology, which will reportedly be used in the sixth generation iPhone as well.

Thanks to in-cell touch, the Optimus G is just 8.45mm thin, but there is still room for a 2100mAh battery inside. The phone also features a 13-megapixel camera, along with a 1.3-megapixel front facing unit.

The phone will ship with Android 4.0 and it should hit select Asian markets in October or November.
