Will help Big Content

Samsung's new smartphone, the Galaxy S III has launched with some interesting  embedded security technology made by Israel's Discretix.

Discretix builds DRM flash memory processors which are embedded in the memory. Under the bonnet of the Galaxy S III, the company provides encrypted access for high definition (HD) video and TV broadcasting applications. It works with HD quality video, movies and premium TV content, which require protection. The company's Wi-Fi Display technology also gives the Galaxy the ability to securely stream content, such as movies and games via wireless to a TV screen. The solution uses TrustZone ARM security technology.

In a press release Discretix said that smartphones will become the main way video and TV services are consumed. With this sort of DRM under the bonnet, more movies and music will be made available online. Discretix predicts that companies such as Samsung, Motorola, LG, Panasonic, Sharp and Intel will sell 50 million smartphones with its embedded technology.

In April, the company signed an agreement with Taiwan's HTC to embed Discretix technology in its new flagship handset.
