Sony’s tiny Xperia U has gone on sale in Europe, with prices starting at about €220 off-contract.

The Xperia U features a 3.5-inch 854x480 screen, 512MB of RAM, 8GB of storage and a dual-core ST-Ericsson NovaThor U8500 processor, clocked at 1GHz. It also packs an FM radio, 5-megapixel camera and a front-facing VGA camera. It measures a rather compact, albeit chubby 112x54x12mm and weighs 110g.



It is a pretty decent spec sheet for a low-end smartphone, although it lacks internal storage and a microSD slot. However, the Xperia U is currently the cheapest dual-core Android phone you can get in Europe.
