Did Sony’s Xperia S just get a massive price cut?

Deal of the Day: Cheapest 720p phone in Euroland

Sony’s Xperia S might not have the newest processor around, or OS for that matter, but it is one fine phone nonetheless.

Now it got even better. According to our price search engine, several German retailers/e-tailers are selling the SIM-free retail version at just €313+. The white version is available for €313, and a few other retailers are listing the black and white versions for €320 to €350. We are still not sure whether the price cut is permanent or a fluke, as it doesn’t make much sense, mainly because Sony’s upcoming Xperia P will cost about €350.

So if you are in the market for a contract-free superphone, the Xperia S is nothing short of a bargain. It features a 4.3-inch 720p screen, 12-megapixel camera and 32GB of storage, all powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core.

The only phone that comes close in terms of specs and pricing is Google’s Galaxy Nexus, which has a somewhat bigger screen and ICS out of the box, but it has just 16GB of storage and a 5-megapixel camera.

You can check out the listings for the white and black versions here and here.

Update: No more bargains guys. Retailers who offered the Xperia S at €313 or €330 have sold out. However, there are some good news. Most retailers have cut the price to €399, down from €430 a week ago. This makes the Xperia S the second cheapest 720p phone in Europe and it is still a pretty good deal.
