20 million better than last year

Samsung says that itts annual mobile handset sales this year had exceeded 300 million units for the first time in the company's history.

In a press release they outfit said in a statement it had broken its sales record by the end of last month. Handset sales in 2010 were about 280 million. JK Shin, President and Head of Samsung's Mobile Communications Business, was quoted as saying that he was looking forward to things getting better in 2012.

The figures were despite the fact that its main rival Apple had been using every legal method it can to stop the Samsung steamroller.  This means going into court and playing patent troll because it cannot compete. Samsung said the company's flagship Galaxy S smartphone series - Galaxy S and Galaxy S II - contributed significantly to the results.

The Galaxy S II, launched in April, set a new sales record for Samsung, generating 10 million-unit sales. This is even with a few Apple injunctions keeping some products off the shelves.
