Android finally gets Viber

by on21 July 2011

Telecoms thrilled
Android users will be happy to learn that Viber is now available on the Android Market.

The clever VoIP app has been quite popular on iOS devices, and in case you’ve missed it basically allows users to make free calls and send free texts. Viber is free, it requires no registration and it uses existing contacts lists and phone numbers, basically it is the kind of thing that keeps telco executives up at night.

Of course, you need a decent data plan and 3G to use it on the go, or WiFi. Viber has about 12 million users so far and it is about to get a new one as soon as I post the story.
