In a recent tweet Russian blogger Eldar Murtazin boasted of playing with a new dual-core Samsung i9100, which appears to be one of the first dual-core smartphones to get off the drawing board.

The phone should succeed Samsung's Galaxy S, one of the most popular high end Android handsets on the market. In addition to the dual-core, the new Galaxy should also get a better screen. The Galaxy S already boasts a Super AMOLED 800x480 display, so any improvement could very well put it on par with Apple's Retina display.

Lately we have been hearing a lot drabble about dual-core smartphones, or super-phones as some spinners like to call them, but very few actual designs and concepts have showed up, so the fact that a reviewer actually managed to get his hands on one is quite encouraging. However, nearly all major phone makers are reportedly working on dual-core phones. The OS of choice is Android, or Gingerbread to be exact, but it will obviously take a few months before we see the first super-phones on the market.
