Finally available for 8820, 8320, and 8310

To be filed in the better late than never column, AT&T has finally certified the BlackBerry OS 4.5 upgrade for us on the 8820, 8320, and 8310 BlackBerry devices that the company has been offering with older versions of the OS for a long time. Owners of these AT&T model BlackBerry phones have been waiting for AT&T to announce a supported version 4.5 upgrade for quite some time.

While AT&T has been very secretive about the road map for the 4.5 upgrade leading many AT&T customers to think that the 4.5 upgrade was never, in fact, going to get certified and arrived. Version 4.5 of the BlackBerry OS brings a lot of new features to the table that the 8820, 8320, and the 8310 have had the ability to handle for quite some time, but perhaps one of the biggest fixes is the minor memory leak issues that have been driving many AT&T BlackBerry customers nuts for quite some time.

We performed the 4.5 upgrade on a BlackBerry Curve 8310 and the entire process took less than one hour and went very well. We have to admit that we were a bit impatient during the process as it seems to take forever.

If you own a AT&T BlackBerry 8820, 8320, or 8310 you can get the 4.5 upgrade here
