The phone for the social networking crowd

Although details about 3's foray into the mobile handset details already leaked out some time ago, alongside pictures of the new handset, we're still impressed with the overall package that 3 has come up with for its first in-house developed mobile phone.

3's mobile handset division is called INQ and its first handset, the INQ1. Although the main feature of this handset is social networking through Facebook, but with support for Twitter, YouTube, Bebo, Last FM, eBay, Windows Live Messenger, Gmail, Google Maps and Skype, it offers a whole lot more.

On the hardware side of things this 3G handset offers HSDPA data connectivity, a 3.1Megapixel Webcam, a 2.2-inch QVGA (320x240) display, 50MB of built in memory and a microSD card slot. The handset measures 97x47.6x14.4mm (HxWxD) and weighs a pocketable 110g. The battery is good for 329h of standby and 324minutes of talk time.

Price-wise, you're looking at £79.99 on pre-pay and the handset is free on a contract. Good news for pre-pay users is that a mere £10 top-up every month gives you free browsing and access to all the applications, as well as £5 worth of calls and text messages.
