FCC lets Google be
The Federal Communications Commission has decided that the first phone to use Google's "GPhone" Android mobile operating system will not break its radio network.
The FCC has just approved the HTC Dream, so that it will be able to access T-Mobile's nascent 3G data network. In other words, it has been approved to use the 1700 MHz band, which T-Mobile uses for 3G service. In the FCC documentation there is also approval for a "jog ball which is the trackball used on BlackBerrys.
According to Alleyinsider, the approval means that T-Mobile can start peddling the Android Dream as soon as it wants. It is supposed to go on sale in the next quarter and probably November 10th, when HTC has requested the FCC keep Dream photos and user manuals secret.
