AMPs the GPU to 700MHz

As the NDA has finally been lifted, various partners have announced their GTX 280 and GTX 260 cards. One of the first press releases that we received was from Zotac.

Zotac is going to have two versions of its GTX 280 card. The first one will work at the reference clocks, 602MHz for the core, 2,214MHz for the 1GB of GDDR3 memory and 1,296MHz for, what Nvidia now calls, the 240 processor cores.

As with every other GTX 280 card this one also comes with a 512-bit memory interface. The second one is far more interesting, as it is Zotac's GTX 280 AMP! Edition card which works at 700MHz for the core, 2,300MHz for the 1GB of GDDR3 memory and 1,400MHz for the same 240 processor cores.

Zotac's AMP! edition card will be bundled with Codemaster's GRID game. According to rumors, Zotac's AMP! version will not be enough to top Asus's GTX 280 TOP edition, as it has higher shader and memory clocks.

Zotac has also officially announced its GTX 260 card. This one will be working at 576MHz for the GPU, 1,998MHz for the 896MB of GDDR3 memory and it will have 192 processor cores, or as we always called them, Shaders, clocked at 1,242MHz.

Unlike the GTX 280s 512-bit memory bus, the GTX 260 will come with 448-bit wide memory interface. According to the press release, this card will be bundled with Codemaster's GRID game, as well. There will aslo be an AMP! version of the GTX 260, but unfortunately, the clocks are still unknown.

Unfortunately, Zotac's OC on the AMP! version comes with a price premium, so the AMP! version is listed at €569, while the reference clocked Zotac GTX 280 is listed at €529. Here are some pictures of the cards, and as you can see all of them will have the same cooler.
