Two flavors

We’ve learned that ATI's single chip RV770 card comes in two flavors. The first and slower one is branded as RV770PRO, and it will be using GDDR3 memory. ATI will let its partners build them and, of course, these will be the more affordable of the two.

The second Asic is codenamed RV770XT and it comes paired with GDDR5 memory. This board will be manufactured by ATI (MBA) and it will end up faster. The new Rx7x0 generation will have two single-chip cards and we believe ATI will continue using numbers only to reduce the confusion. The larger number one will be RV700XT-based, and Radeon 4xxx has a high possibility on the naming list.

At this moment, ATI still hasn’t told its partners the official name, so it is still up in the air.
