To arrive soon

Some ATI partners are working on the 2GB version of Radeon 3870 X2. We know that this is possible despite the fact that 2GB won't bring any significant performance increase, but 2GB sounds twice better than 1GB.

We remember that Diamond multimedia did launch a 1GB version of Radeon 2900 XT and that it had a lot of success with this product. We believe that the same success will follow the brave ones who launch the Radeon 3870 X2 with 2GB. In practice, each chip will address 1GB memory, but this doesn’t make a big difference.

The real Build of Material cost of 2GB card is insignificant and you can expect this card very soon. In the e-tail / retail market it will end up more expensive than the 1GB version, simply as the companies know that people are willing to pay more for more memory.
