Chrome 430GT for $59.99

We were
surprised by the fact that S3 Graphics, a part of VIA, has managed to put its first Direct 10.1 card out on the market. The new card is a part of S3 Graphics Chrome 400 Series and it will be branded Chrome 430GT.

The card is available through the Gstore for $59.95. According to S3 the card scores close to 2,100 points in 3Dmark06 under Vista while ATI’s 3450 scores just over 1,700d.

S3 claims rigidly low thermal specifications on this low profile card and it has support for DirectX10.1, OpenGL and can even cope with Hi-Def 1080p Blu-ray. The chip uses a Fujitsu developed 65nm marchitecture, has 256 MB of 64-bit DDR2 memory and it should work well with both DirectX 10 and 9 titles. We can predict some driver issues, but the card itself looks good, at least in the press release.

You can buy one here.
