256, 512MB or 1GB flavours

We've gotten our hands on a board diagram of the 9600GT and it looks as if these cards will be available with a wide range of memory options from the word go. The diagram below lists 256, 512MB and 1GB as possible memory configurations and it also suggests that we'll see DDR2 and GDDR3 based cards.

We're not too keen to see that there might be DDR2 cards, but if they end up really cheap and still offer decent performance, this might become a very popular card for those that don't want to spend too much money on a graphcis card but still want to play new game titles.

It also looks like some 9600GTs will get dual slot cooling judging by the rear bracket configurations shown here. The cards will feature an internal S/PDIF connector if the manufacturers chooses, which will allow for a DVI to HDMI dongle to be used in conjuction with digital audio, although it looks like it might be possible to get an external adapter as well, as with the pictures we showed you of the 9800GX2 S/PDIF connector earlier.

Here's he diagram
