We had a chance to play with one of MSI's top cards called R3870X2. Actually, we are talking about the dual chip Radeon HD 3870 X2 card, but this time in MSI's suite.

MSI R3870X2 has 1GB of GDDR3 memory, dual DVI/TV out, HDCP, HDMI, HDTV and is PCI Express 2.0 and DirectX 10.1 ready and it comes in an incredibly big box.

The card is overclocked straight out of the box and there is still possibility for even more overclocking. The reference GPU clock is 825MHz, but MSI overclocked two RV670 cores at 860MHz, while memory works at default speed of 900MHz. A nice touch is is Dynamic Overclocking Technology (known simply as D.O.T.) that is accessible directly through the Catalyst Control Center.

We played a while with the card using the highest settings in D.O.T. called Commander (the Army rank that comes after General) and this clocks the card all the way to 878MHz on GPU and 955MHz for memory. It looks stable, but we need to do more testing.

In 3DMark 06 it scores slightly better than reference Radeon HD 3870 X2. With MSI we scored 13664 marks and 13464 marks with the reference clocked card.
