HTPC users rejoice

Sapphire's HD 3450 HyperMemory card has been pixelized. This card will have the same specs as the plain HD 3450, and it will work at 600MHz for the core and 500MHz for 256MB of GDDR2 memory. The new one will also feature HyperMemory support.

The HyperMemory version of HD 3450 is a low-profile card with a passive cooling solution, and according to Sapphire's press release for HD 3400 series, all the launch models will feature silent passive heatsink cooling, including the full height HD 3470 with GDDR3 memory. The only drawback of this value cards is the crippled 64-bit memory interface. It supports DirectX 10.1, Shader Model 4.1, ATI's Powerplay and HDMI over DVI-HDMI adapter.

The card is advertised with a 1GB HyperMemory sticker, which basically means that it will use up to 1GB of the system memory, in addition to the 256MB of DDR2 on the card. This isn't bad, since the price of system memory is ridiculously low and this might be the perfect candidate for the HTPC systems.

The card is listed here and the lowest price is €38.84, but it is still not available. A DirectX 10.1 and HDMI capable card for under €40 sounds like a real bargain.
