AMD working on in-house PCIe bridge
Should reduce dual GPU card costs
Digitimes is reporting that AMD is working on an in-house PCIe bridge for future dual GPU graphics cards rather than relying on solutions from third party manufacturers as this should allow AMD to save some cost on these type of cards.
ATI had something similar for its AGP All-in-Wonder cards with FireWire which allowed a FireWire controller to work over the AGP interface and we can't see this as a big challenge in terms of product development for AMD.
Apparently we'll see this new chip on AMD's next generation of dual GPU cards after the Radeon HD 3870 X2.
