The guys at 3Dprofessor.org reviewed AMD's new entry level professional graphics cards, the FireGL V3600 and the V5600, and were more than impressed by what they had to offer.

The reviewers praised the V5600's performance uptake, its drivers, low power consumption and low noise.

Compared to the old 256bit V7200, the 128bit V5600 scores 26.6% more in 3dsMAX, and 45.1% more in Maya.

The best thing is its relatively low price and prospect of upgrading Radeons with modded drivers. The V5600 sells for around $600, but as we wrote earlier, it might even be possible to turn an $500 HD2900XT into a FireGL V8600 with modded drivers, more here.

With the availability of cheap dual and quad core CPUs, and the ever growing demand for hi polygon 3D content, these cards might have a bright future.
