10 MB eDram chips

TSMC the company well known as Taiwanese Semiconductor Manufacturing Company announce that it has begun the production of a 10 MB graphic memory for the Xbox 360.

The eDRAM will work at 500 MHz and the good old TSMC will continue using 90 nanometre. The previous supplier of these chips was NEC and we don’t know if TSMC is simply getting the helping hand to Microsoft or it will take over the whole production from NEC.

We expect that soon enough TSMC or NEC will start the production of 65 nanometre memory as Microsoft desperately needs this shrink.
