Four 1.5GB cards in a box

Nvidia couldn't allow AMD to steal the limelight at Siggraph and it has just launched its latest 3D rendering monster solution, the Quadro Plex Model S4. In all fariness to AMD, there's nothing much new here, as it's the same box as the Tesla S870, but for rendering instead of computing.

The Quadro Plex Model S4 features four Quadro FX 5600 cards in quad SLI, each card has 1.5GB frame buffer and this gives the Quadro Plex Model S4 a total of 6GB.

Due to it's 1U design, several Quadro Plex Model S4 boxes can be used together without taking up loads of floor space. Each 1U chassis offers system monitoring, thermal control and fault notification.

Nvidia has also made its first animated movie and it's called The plus life and you can watch it here. It's been done using the latest version of Nvidia's Gelato software using Quadro FX cards.
