AMD unveils Fury X, Fiji on Tuesday

by on13 June 2015

Livestream at the PC gaming event on July 16

AMD will unveil the card that know as the as Fiji XT. This watercooled card will be the first to use high bandwidth memory (HBM) technology.

You can register at AMD's official blog website and watch the livestream. If you happen to be in LA or nearby there is a chance that AMD will let you pop in to help celebrate.

AMD will also announce its Radeon R9 300 series including The Radeon R9 390X, R9 390, R9 380, R7 370 and R7 360 at the same time.

We have been covering graphics for a long time and the use of the Fury name is a little surprising. ATI used to have a Rage Fury Maxx card that didn’t do that well against the the Geforce SDR and DDR cards so we would have thought the name screamed "loser,"  Yet AMD thought it made sense to revive the Fury brand to compete with the Titan X from Nvidia.  Maybe the association with Fury has changed a bit since the success of Marvell's Avengers franchise so it probably has better associations these days.

Our buddies from PCperspective managed to get their hands on snaps of the card with its water cooler.

Last week Fudzilla showed how the Fiji XT or watercooled Fury X card is going to look iusing the company's rendered picture. We just have to wait for Tuesday to see the final additional details. From what we understand, the official reviews will follow a week after the Tuesday event.

The launch will happen at the PC Gaming convention at the Belasco Theater in Los Angeles, CA starting on 10 AM Pacific standard time. This is 19.00 for people at Central European Time, 18.00 people in the UK and Portugal.
