AMD rolls out second performance driver

Brings Crossfire support for Skyrim


AMD has rolled out a second Catalyst Performance driver update, the Catalyst 11.11b. Featuring all the updates previously seen in the 11.11a update, the new performance driver fixes the Crossfire performance scaling but only for AMD Radeon HD 6000 series cards.

According to the release notes, the new Catalyst 11.11b performance driver brings all the updates from the last weeks 11.11a update including 2-7% performance improvemet in Skyrim on single GPU configurations, Batman Arkham City DirectX 11 improvements, Rage CrossfireX performance scalling improvement and bunch of graphics fixes, and Battlefield 3 corruption fix.

In addition to those 11.11a fixes and perfomance improvements, the new Catalyst 11.11b performance drivers also brings new Crossfire performance scaling for the Elder Scrolls Skyrim when running on Radeon HD 6000 series cards and Crossfire performance scaling for the Assassin's Creed: Revelations game. Those running on Radeon HD 5000 series cards in Crossfire will still have to wait a bit longer, but AMD promised an updated driver with Crossfire Skyrim support.
