Nvision 2008: Keynote was fun, but...

We heard an interesting comment about Nvision's keynote that pretty much says it all. If you would want to describe what just happened in San Jose with a sentence it would be, "This was the perfect way to move the focus from the real issues."

Nvidia has problems with their GPUs, with Intel, with its chipset roadmap, with notebook chips, strong ATI and Jensen didn’t take a moment of his two hour presentation to talk about these important and burning issues.

The 3D stereo demos looks amazing and it will eventually get to high-end gamers, at least a portion of it. The presentation itself, and Jensen as a presenter are interesting, but it does remind one of Steve Jobs.

The Battlestar Galactica lady, Tricia Helfer looks great in red as much as Jeff Han’s Minority report -ike user interface where you twist and turn things with a touch monitor and your hands, but this is something that we will see in the distant future.

Where the new chips are that will save Nvidia and make things better still remains to be seen.
