Nvision 2008: Looks impressive

Jensen, along
with a guy from a German company that does rendering, just showed something they call hybrid rendering technique, utilizing ray tracing and rasterization rendering a Lamborghini car. All the reflections and refraction look great and these Germans did quite a realistically looking car model that Lamborghini wants to sell to their super rich company.

The key is a speed, why they use the mix, and this is a clear statement where the industry wants to go. There will be 20 of these limited edition Lamborghini cars, and the German company did the model all in 3D, and this runs at more than 24 FPS live and looks good.

Jensen's point is that the next step is a hybrid rasterisation and raytracing together. You do need a Quadro Plex with a few GPUs and most likely at least one Intel-based quad-core for the new technique. We do need to double check this.

I guess now we've got a new term, Hybrid ray tracing rasterization graphics.
