During the Games Convention we had a chance to sit down with the guys from Zotac. As always, we were expecting to see a new graphics card or a motherboard, but Zotac actually surprised us with its Nitro overclocking device. Zotac still has some work to do with the device, as we had a chance to look at the first sample of the device, so some minor changes might happen in the future.

The main idea behind this product is that gamers could actually overclock their cards in real time, without leaving the game. The overclocking is done by simply pressing one of three keys located at the front of the device. The device will be able to overclock the GPU, memory and even the shader clock.

Besides the overclocking functionality, the new Zotac Nitro will be able to show the current clocks of the card, its temperature and the fan speed. There is also a generic display located on the bottom part of the screen which might end up customizable, but those are some things that Zotac is looking into.

The device will be ready by the end of October and we will try to get one just to see how well it works with one of Zotac's cards. The device will be sold separately and at some point in the future this device will probably be bundled with some high-end graphics cards from Zotac. As a standalone device this little thing will have its price set at €89 in Euroland and US$99 in the U.S.

Zotac is still tweaking the device, so they will certainly appreciate any feedback; all comments are welcome at the forums.
