Nvidia has informed some of its partners that the overclocked 9800 GX2 won’t be allowed at the launch date. Most of the overclocked cards will come two weeks after the launch. Nvidia wants to play it like that and, naturally, Nvidia’s partners don’t have any other choice.
We don’t know what the overclocking limits will be as overclocking two GPUs at the same time gets a bit complicated; but we’ve seen some clocks where, at least in the lab environment ,the card hits over 700MHz. We are not sure if the partners will be able to ship at such a high speed, but up to 650MHz should be possible.
So far, we only know that EVGA will do a water cooler from the launch, while most of others will stick to the reference one.
