1GB on low profile PCB

HIS has rolled out a new DirectX 11 card, the HD 5550 Silence. As the name suggest, the card uses a passive cooling solution and features a low profile PCB and 1GB of memory.

The new HIS HD 5550 Silence sounds like a real treat for HTPC systems as this 40nm Redwood based GPU packs 320 Stream processors. The card works at 550MHz for the GPU and features 1GB of DDR2 memory clocked at 800MHz and paired up with a 128-bit memory interface.

HIS opted for a passive cooling solution that sort of takes only a single slot, as its heatsink extends to the back of the card. The card should be widely available in May and should cost somewhere around €70.
