Now its official

Although both of these cards have been shown during CeBIT, MSI has now officially launched its Twin Frozr II HD 5850 and HD 5870 cards. Both cards are left to tick at their reference clocks but feature a non-reference cooler that should bring lower GPU temps and should pack plenty of overclocking potential.

Although these are nowhere near the Lightning Series, the Twin Frozr II cooling solution with four heatpipes and dual 80mm fans should be a lot better than the reference cards. Two out of four heatpipes are the 8mm-thick SuperPipes that MSI uses on bunch of its products these days. The Twin Frozr II cooled cards should be up to 12°C cooler than the reference ones.

As noted, both of these cards are left at their reference clocks so we are looking at R5850 Twin Frozr II that has 1440 stream processors and works at 725MHz for the GPU and 4000MHz for 1GB of GDDR5 memory. The R5870 Twin Frozr II has full 1600 stream processors and works at 850MHz for the GPU and 4800MHz for memory.
