Some issues cleared

AMD has issued its first display driver package in the year 2010, the Catalyst 10.1. The new one supports Radeon HD 2000, 3000, 4000 and, of course, the HD 5000 series graphics cards and although it includes multiple fixes that a lot of users were waiting for, the performance improvement list is far from impressive.

The ATI Catalyst 10.1 is available for Windows 7, Vista, XP as well as Linux platforms. The only highlight for Linux is the support for Ubuntu 9.10 and that's about that. Resolved issues under Windows platform includes various fixes but some of them, which we find more important, are still not fixed.

The full list of resolved issues include a fix of magnified cursors when enabling LCD Overdrive and moving it over the "calibration preview", fix for dropped frames on Firefox while playing Youtube clips with Adobe Flash Player 10, couple of Eyefinity related fixes, fixed overscan/underscan issue when setting displays to HDTV mode, blocky grass and trees in Unigine "Heaven" at OpenGL mode and some other minor fixes.

The performance improvements list is much easier to type as it features only two games, Left 4 Dead 2 and Crysis. Both improvements are for ATI Radeon HD 5700 and 5800 series graphics cards and bring improvement of up to 3 to 4 percent.

The new driver can be found here, although if you aren't plagued by one of those issues we see no point in wasting around 50MB of bandwidth on this one. You can also check out the full release notes here.
