All chips are sold out

After having
published our article that explained the reality of some Nvidia partners possibly going under, the green chip giant tried to assure us that all is great and that things have never been better.

We received an interesting comment noting that some partners who might be in financial troubles are likely in these positions due to their long-term financial struggles and not due to Nvidia’s high-end shortage.

Nvidia claims that it sold all chips and has very little to sell. Some partners like Palit and its child companies can even get a holy grail of unavailability, the mighty GT200.

If all goes well, Fermi will be something that should turn the tide in Nvidia’s advantage. However, this probably will not happen until well into Q1 2010.

Of course, Nvidia’s official line is that the partners are happy, they all sold a lot of chips and they haven’t missed out on anything except the chips that are heavily unavailable. But that is all fine, the hypnotizer said.

One of the greatest arguments to support this claim is the fact that despite ATI’s winning hardware, the red chip giant doesn’t really have any chips to sell. This leaves gamers and enthusiasts who want to buy Radeon HD 58x0 and Radeon HD 5970 cards stuck with facing an extreme supply shortage that likely won’t go away for at least a few more weeks if not even months.
