Nine months of horror

Nvidia's top workstation chap Mr. Danny Shapiro told Fudzilla that the main reason for a huge drop in workstation business was the economic downturn lead by the fall of the USA car industry.

These guys were always buying the latest, greatest hardware and since Q4 2008 they have decided to dramatically reduce their spending. This hurt Nvidia a lot, as in the last nine months they didn’t really sell many Quadro-based products.

Nvidia also said that in they see a big increase of demand in this month and that the situation can only get better when they release a workstation version of GT300, Fermi based products.

Q4 2008 was the first hiccup for Nvidia's workstation business and despite the fact Nvidia has around 90 percent of workstation market it didn’t do well. ATI didn’t gain any serious market share, with recession Quadro / Workstation Total available of market (TAM) simply dramatically shrunk. Let’s hope it will grow again in 2010.
