Powercolor has added yet another HD 4890 to its product portfolio, the PCS HD 4890 2GB. According to Powercolor, due to the doubled amount of memory, this card does not suffer for bottlenecks caused by slow or insufficient video memory.

The card works at 900MHz for the GPU and comes with 2GB of GDDR5 memory clocked at 1000MHz (4.0Gbps). It has DVI, VGA and HDMI outputs and uses Zerotherm's dual slot cooler to keep the temps at bay. We doubt that the additional 1GB of memory will have much impact on the HD 4980's performance, but we will keep our final judgment until we see some real tests of this card. The additional memory might give you few frames at ultra high resolutions, but the main question is, if those frames are enough to justify the higher price tag.

Powercolor already has the cheapest HD 4890 card and this one is listed for €147,90 at Alternate.de. Sapphire is the only one that sells 2GB HD 4890 Vapor-X cards, and these are up to €50 more expensive.

You can find them all here.
