Since Geforce GTS 250 had great success in the desktop market, Nvidia hopes that the new mobile card can repeat the same success in notebooks.

Geforce GTS 250M is clocked at 500MHz core and is of course a 40nm based chip. It features support for DirectX 10.1 and its memory works at 1600MHz. The chip uses GDDR5 and a 128-bit bus.

The rest of the spec includes 96 shader units clocked at 1250MHz. Nvidia plans that this chip should take care of the mobile, power users market and it believes that it is up to 50 percent faster than the previous generation of mobile GPUs, especially in new titles such as Mirror’s Edge and Sacred 2.

We expect quite a few announcements in the next few months, but with a TDP of 28W, this is not the coolest mobile chip we’ve seen, but with more power, comes the bigger TDP.
