HD 4770 is very hard to come by in Europe

Limited availability, and it's getting worse

The HD 4770 was launched back in April, and just nine vendors have launched RV740 boards. As ATI didn't want to see any non-reference design malarkey, partners launched reference cards, one each for a total of nine.

As if this wasn't bad enough, it seems things are getting much worse if you wanted one. At the moment, MSI, Gigabyte and XFX cards are no longer available in Europe. The other five are available, theoretically at least. Looking at our price search engine we could find just a handful of shops that had them in stock.

Here are the numbers, you can get a Sapphire in just four shops, Powercolor's card is available at just three shops, while Asus and Club 3D cards are available at two stores each. You can get an HIS at just one shop. This makes for a total of 12 retailers in the markets covered by our price search engine, including Germany, Austria, UK and Poland.

Basically, this means you can either order an HD 4770 now, or wait for new batches which don't appear to be coming soon, and it is practically no longer available in Europe. There's not much point in getting an HD 4770 anyway, as the HD 4850 has dropped to €80, and is now a few euros cheaper than the HD 4770.
