Sapphire officially announces its new HD 4890's
Toxic and Vapor-X Editions
Sapphire has officially announced its two new HD 4890 cards, both with Vapor-X cooling. The Toxic HD 4890 and Vapor-X HD 4890 both uses Vapor-X cooling with a bit different design and both come with 1GB of GDDR5 memory clocked at 1,050MHz (4.2Gbps).
The HD 4890 Toxic Edition uses Vapor-X cooling in combination with heatpipes and has a slightly higher core clock set at 960MHz. The HD 4890 Vapor-X does have a lower 870MHz core clock, and does not combine Vapor-X cooling with heatpipes, but comes with Black Diamond Choke design and on-board DisplayPort and HDMI outputs.
Both cards are still not available, and have yet to show up in stores, but you can expect them to sell with a price tag somewhere between US $250 and $300. The HD 4890 Atomic 1GHz GPU clocked card is currently selling at Newegg for US $299.99 while the 901MHz reference cooled HD 4890 sells for US $249.99 (229.99 after Mail in Rebate).
